I'm reading brave new world (required) and the jungle (choice)

Ms. Toggas

Are you reading both of these books (Brave New World and The Jungle)at the same time? I have Brave New World on my stack of books to reread this summer.
I just finished reading Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns and The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy (based on his second year of being a teacher in South Carolina). I became interested in Pat Conroy after listening to some students talk about his book with enthusiasm. If you are a fan of basketball, you will like My Losing Season.

I just finished inexcusable; it was a great book. I am not reading The Rules of Survival by Nancy Werlin. These books were recommended to me. I have 6 more at home to read and then I will check out some more.

Ms. Toggas

The Rules of Survival sounds interesting. Is this fiction or nonfiction? I have heard of Nancy Werlin. Does anyone else know of any other book she has written?

I finished The Rules of Survival last night. It was good! I love reading the YABA books. I read Copper Sun by Sharon Draper last week, and it was wonderful. My favorite by Draper is still Battle of Jericho. Such a good book! I am now reading Massive by Julia Bell. I am only on page 40 or so. I am not loving it yet but I am hoping I will be soon.

Clayton

At the same time? I'm reading them both this summer, but I'll probably read The Jungle first because I'm more interested in it. Ha, AP US History got to me last year, I guess.

Marina

Right now I am in the middle of reading Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer. Let me just say that she has quite a talent, keeping me interested in her books. For the Summer Reading I am reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (Required) and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (choice).
If anybody knows of any very interesting, suspensful novels please let me know!

Jordan

I have chosen In Cold Blood by Capote, and am reading the required, Brave New World by Huxley. I have found that I enjoy In Cold Blood much more than Brave New World. It might be attributed to the more realistic content of In Cold Blood compared to the science fiction of Huxley. I really enjoy Capote's use of characterization as well as simile and metaphor. He uses wonderfully descriptive language.

I have chosen In Cold Blood by Capote, and am reading the required Brave New World by Huxley. Overall, I am enjoying Capote more than Huxley. I find Capote's use of characterization, metaphor and simile to be impressive. I really would like to read more of his novels, as well as his other writings. His use of descriptive language is wonderful.

Mr. Pisaniello

Clayton, how did you become interested in The Jungle? Have you begun reading? I hope you enjoy it-- not many are reading this text these days. Keep us posted about your eating preferences at the conclusion of this reading. Look for some recent publications about bioengineering of our current foods.
