Last year I read a book called "Runner." This book is very similar to it. The views in this book are the same; it's told from the same point of view. It is spoken in a very familiar tone also.

The Jungle has me thinking of Great Gatsby. The motto of America is the American Dream and how anyone can achieve success. Great Gatsby portrays Daisy as Gatsby's dream and The Jungle brings the historical aspect of the American Dream to context. Did an American Dream exist? Both novels would probably believe that there's a dream, but it's unattainable. The Jungle probably brings a more truthful aspect to the mix, though.

Ms. Toggas

Hi Clayton,

I agree that The Jungle may appear more "truthful." I like your perspective on the American Dream; part of what may define the "American" dream is its unattainable nature. The unattainable nature coupled with the relentless pursuit of the dream is the personification of hope; hope is what defined America at the time those novels were written (and hopefully what still defines America). Do you see a connection to The Jungle in this capacity? I hope you continue to enjoy your reading!

this book remines me of myself because it shows me all the things that a gurl can go through it also remines me that you can go through trials and tribulations so it shows me what to do and what not to do!!!!!!!!!!!

Luv ya Gurl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whitney, great insight! If more people could do what you have done with your novel, there would be many more readers out there. What specific thing have you learned to do or to avoid when dealing with a difficult situation?
